What is your company mission?
To help great companies earn the customer and employee affinity they deserve.
What does your company do? What product or service do you offer?
We are a culture consultancy that works with companies and cohorts of entrepreneurs to demonstrate their commitment to the triple bottom line (people, planet, and profit). We employ B Lab’s B Impact Assessment to create, track, and improve KPIs, setting strategies to implement the new processes and tell the story of their impact.
We also offer ongoing strategy & consulting services to help after the certification. Our team can help with storytelling, blogs, and branding, we can assign a part-time B Keeper, and we also have fractional leadership capability.
How long have you been a B Corp?
We were founded in 2021 and submitted our assessment on our one year anniversary–it was that important to us. We were formally certified in May 2022.
What attracted you to B Corp?
For me, it was a project I worked on during my MBA at the University of Georgia. As someone who had grown a little sour on business, learning about the B Corp movement gave me incredible hope that profit and purpose could harmoniously coexist. I then worked at another B Corp (Ad Victoriam Solutions) for 5 ½ years before launching PPC.
Why does B Corp matter to you?
Capitalism is broken. Not in the sense of the traditional corporate KPIs, like stock market indexes or profit margins, but in the forms of inequity, low wages, and an unbalanced division of capital. It’s time to finally move on from the theory of shareholder primacy and B Corps give us that opportunity.
What two or three activities do you do within your company to keep the B Corp mission a key part of your company culture?
As the Founder & CEO of Profitable Purpose Consulting, I have the responsibility to steer the ship and live by our B Corp values every single day. Every single decision I make is intentional with regard to its impact on our stakeholders.
If you were encouraging other companies to consider applying for B Corp certification, what would you say to them? Why should they become a B Corp?
It’s 2022. Every single company, regardless of intention (or action), has a commitment to diversity & inclusion, the environment, community impact, and anything else they’ve sensed the majority of their customers and employees want. You have one as well, but your voice is lost in a sea of green- and woke washing. You deserve to be recognized–and the B Corp certification can do this for you.
